ANJA PERCIVAL: PRINTMAKER

I am a printmaker, specialising in etching on copper.

After initially pursuing a scientific career, I then studied Fine Art at Falmouth College of Arts, where I discovered my love for printmaking. Between 2005 and 2009 I spent the majority of my time working at several different printmaking workshops in Copenhagen and Odense, but in December 2009, I relocated back to the North East, and soon after my return I was awarded ‘Printmaker of the Year’ at Printfest 2010.
 
I now predominantly work from my studio in Fowlers Yard, Durham. I am also still a member of Northern Print Studio in Newcastle, and maintain strong links with Fyns Printmaking Workshop in Odense. My studio in Fowlers Yard is an open access workshop, where the public can visit to see printmaking in action, or participate in day courses that teach the etching techniques that I commonly use. I also sometimes demonstrate at Northern Print Open Studio events, and visits to other printmaking studios to share my techniques include Associação de Gravura Água-Forte in Lisbon, and Fyns Grafiske Værksted in Odense, Denmark.

The last three times I participated in the annual Printfest art fair, I was absolutely thrilled to win the 'Visitors Choice Award'! You can read more about Printfest by clicking on the links on the upper right side of this page. 

I have secured gallery representation both nationally and internationally, with outlets including London, New York, Denmark, Sweden and Norway. In 2012 I held a solo exhibition in the Galilee Chapel of Durham Cathedral, and that same year my work was selected to hang in the newly refurbished Millbank House, within the House of Lords.
